In the last few months I have had some experience in negotiating with several vendors about prices and costs. The majority of these vendors have mentioned that in the last 6-8 months they are have had to lower their rates or offer discounts in order to be considered for work; furthermore it seems that clients are more eager than ever to negotiate discounts in order to reduce their costs.

This is understandable given the current economic Crisis.

The majority of my negotiations have been relatively short and easy, so I feel that I haven’t really had to strategise my negotiations (compromises have been made on a mutual benefit system).

My negotiation strategy of mutual benefit is quite simple, as I am looking to maintain good vendor relationships.

I am interested to see how others in the industry approach the sensitive area of price negotiations.
