At Rubric we have managed to do some major customizations to the workflow functions within WS. We now have specific workflows that work with specific files and specific clients.
For example we have properties files from one of our clients and the workflow does the following:
- Enforces UTF8 encoding onto the files
- Clears BOM characters
- Renames the files
- Checks variables are consistent and throws up exceptions reports for inconsistencies
- Allows our translators to add in new variables to the files and adds it in to a config file for us
Overall this has vastly improved many things for Rubric and the customer such as:
- Reduced engineering efforts
- Reduced costs of around 24%
- Quality significantly Improved
- More time to spend on quality
Overall this has vastly improved the customers satisfaction. I think using workflow customization is a really good thing and is really contributing to our projects with certain customers. Has anyone else looked into the world workflow customization and what were their findings and difficulties that they had to overcome?
