Looking for information on Framemaker to DITA migration for existing help/documentation.
Such as practical experience on doing this, or pointers to guidance or companies with proven expertise with doing such work. |

Hi Soeren,
A bit late this reply; but are you aware that FrameMaker 7.2 and FrameMaker 8.0 both support DITA/XML?
We have converted unstructured FrameMaker manuals into structured XML/DITA on several occasions. Our experience is that it needs to be a one-off exercise, i.e. once you convert the unstructured documents to structured documents, you should throw the unstrcutured documents away. The reason for this advice is that even with a great deal of automation we have found we always have to hand finish the manual to get it fully converted.
If you have already solved this problem, I would like to hear how you went about it.
Regards
Ian |
